albion barn
Adaptive Reuse, Albion MI - This was a Barn rescue project as it was slated for demolition. Due to urgency, the roof was split and collapsed inward. As a standing frame, the pegs pulled and the frame disassembled by laying down each bent. This Barn Timber Frame was reassembled for a home on the Lake Huron shoreline.
Thayers park picinic shelter
Adaptive Reuse, Northville MI - Following the removal of the downtown bandstand, a memorial was held at the location of the salvaged Timbers. The idea of park Picnic Shelter materialized as a use of the salvaged material. After collected dimensional sizes and quantities, drawings were produced, the frame recut, and the new structure erected along side a relocated historic barn on the same site.
toyota picnic shelter
Adaptive Reuse, Ann Arbor MI - In the interest of Preservation, elements of a Barn were salvaged to construct a Picnic Shelter. Key to the effort of character preservation, actual roof panels were salvaged in-whole to reassemble on the new structure.
Craig cabin
Move-In-Whole, West Bloomfield MI - This move in-whole was quite significant due to the extent of structural deterioration of the Historic 1830's Cabin. The Cabin was moved from a demolition site to a living farm School facility where notable structures have accumulated in the interest of preservation. The pictures better speak to the efforts invested in its restoration.
brock cabin
Log Refinishing, Novi MI - The finish on this twenty year old Log Home had darkened. Restoration started by vapor blasting the logs with a corn cob media to strip all prior coatings. From a raw log surface, Shell-Guard pesticide/fungicide was applied, then primer (stain on pine will blotch) , then stain, and then a topcoat sealer. These products are a Perma-Chink brand, a family of compatible coatings that all breath - as such, there is nothing to peal and very resistant to discolor.
